Back in May, Xiaomi launched its Mi 8 family of smartphones. The line-up includes Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer Edition. However, it seems that the Chinese technology company is planning to launch (at least) two more smartphones to the Mi 8 series.
Quoting a source, a report by MySmartPrice has claimed that Xiaomi will soon be launching two smartphones – Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition – in China. The ‘Youth’ version will be available in three configurations – 4GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/64GB storage, and 6GB RAM/128GB storage. There will be three colour options available – Space Gray, Gold, and Blue.
As for the ‘Screen Fingerprint’ variant, it’ll be offered in two configurations – 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB storage. Two colour options will be offered – Black and Gold.
Interestingly, the two smartphones are similar to the already available Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer Edition. If they are indeed the base for the upcoming devices, the ‘Youth’ variant could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, while the ‘Screen Fingerprint’ version, as its name suggests, will have an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Talking about the original Mi 8, it marries the best design elements of Mi MIX 2s with a notched display that’s identical to Apple’s iPhone X. While most Android smartphone makers have already embraced the notch, Xiaomi has gone one step further, embedding facial recognition system technology like Apple’s Face ID in the Mi 8.
Xiaomi Mi 8 features metal and glass design with a 6.21-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display. It has a resolution of 1080×2248 pixels, an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, and supports always-on mode. In terms of performance, the Mi 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with (up to) 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
