Keeping its promise, Xiaomi launched a new smart home product on Valentine s Day. Called the Mi Populele, the instrument is a smart take on the regular Ukulele. The instrument can be understood as a more compact version of a standard acoustic guitar but one that only has four strings. Additionally, the sound texture too varies as compared to the regular six-stringed guitar. What Xiaomi has done with the Mi Populele is that it has added fancy lights along with a companion app to help ease the learning process. The smart instrument is available for crowdfunding through Xiaomi s Mijia platform at 399 Yuan (approximately Rs 3,900). It is expected to start shipping by March 28. The Mi Populele looks like a regular Ukulele and has been made of Indonesian rosewood material. It has a petal-style hollow for mellow sound, and has Aquila nylon strings. It weighs 500 grams. The smart instrument has been fitted with 72 LED lights under the fret board which light up as a player picks on the string. It further includes what Xiaomi calls an intelligent switch design for pairing over Bluetooth. Also Read - Best wearable gift ideas under Rs 5,000 for Father's Day 2021
It comes with a companion app which is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above or iOS 8.0 and above. The app aids in learning how to play Mi Populele. All one needs to do is tap a key on the app and the corresponding light will glow up on the Mi Populele thereby helping you pick up the right notes. The app comes with over 100 songs, basic lessons, and more which can help one master the instrument in lesser time.
Additionally, the Mi Populele is fuelled by an 800mAh battery and is Bluetooth-enabled for the companion app to work. It can be charged via micro USB and comes with a carrying bag. ALSO READ: Xiaomi sells 3 million units of Redmi 3s range in India, becomes second largest smartphone vendor
