Micromax launched the Bharat-series last year with the aim to make 4G VoLTE more accessible to Indian customers. After launching the Bharat 1, Bharat 2, Bharat 3 and Bharat 4, Micromax has now sent media invites to launch the Bharat 5. The smartphone will launch at an event in Delhi on December 1.
The Micromax Bharat 5 is said to sport a dual-camera at the rear, which is also its USP. Interestingly, the media invite shows the smartphone in full glory. Up front, we can see capacitive navigation keys at the bottom, while on the top, there is an earpiece and front-facing camera. At the back, the smartphone sports a dual-camera setup with LED flash.
No hardware specifications of the smartphone are known yet. But what we do know is that the upcoming device is likely to be priced somewhere between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000.
To recap, the Micromax Bharat 4, was launched with features like a 5-inch HD display, and a MediaTek MT6737 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM. The rest of the features included a 5-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, dual-SIM card slots, and a 2,500mAh removable battery. On the software front, the phone ran on Android 7.0 out-of-the-box. The smartphone was launched for Rs 4,999.
Micromax was once India’s second-largest handset company, but in the recent years, the company has lost its market share to strong competition from Chinese players like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo among others. It will be interesting to see what Micromax has up its sleeves to try and bring back the glory days.
