Micromax today put up a teaser for MAd, a service it says is coming soon, on its Facebook page. Little is known about what it is but the Indian smartphone vendor has just teased the question – Mad about ads? UPDATE: At the moment MAd is just a contest where Micromax will post a brand’s creative on its Facebook and Twitter profiles. The announcement might still be a few days away, we hear that it could be yet another attempt by a company to make users watch ads and get paid for doing that. Micromax won’t be the first company to try that, with Aircel attempting to do that with Blyk way back in 2010.
It remains to be seen how Micromax plans to execute it but we are told it would be different than how Blyk approached it. With Blyk, could subscribe to receive promotional content over SMS and MMS in exchange for some freebies like talktime, caller ringback tones among others.
