Back in April, if you remember, Micromax famously attacked Samsung s EMI schemes with its Can Own Now campaign. Its ads mocked Samsung saying that in the time it took the company to process the EMI for one phone; Micromax would have already sold a couple of phones. Another ad mocked Samsung’s EMI scheme ad, saying that one does not need to buy a smartphone on EMIs. But now it seems the Indian smartphone vendor has made a U-turn of sorts and is offering EMI schemes of its own for the Canvas 4 A210. If you head to the Terms & Conditions page on Micromax s Canvas 4 A210 website, you will see 13 points that you have to keep in mind when purchasing the phone. The ninth point is what interests us though. It says, No EMI option is available on pre-booking. However, the balance amount can be paid in 3, 6, 9 and 12 equal EMIs. This is similar to what Samsung offers on its range of devices along with cash-back offers on certain models.
Micromax started accepting pre-orders for the device last week and with the hype it had managed to create, it received more than 4,081 bookings in the first seven hours itself. This feat is especially commendable since the company hasn t yet revealed any sort of specifications on the device and is keeping its cards close to its heart till the official unveiling on July 8.
Ahead of the unveiling though, alleged specs of the device have leaked which claim that the device features a 5-inch 720p display, quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 16GB of expandable memory, 2,000mAh battery and is said to run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It has also been revealed that the company is said to be pricing the device somewhere between Rs 16,000 and Rs 18,000.
