Micromax, expanding its Spark series, has announced the new Spark Vdeo smartphone in the entry-level segment in India. The phone is priced at Rs 4,499 and will be a Snapdeal exclusive. Micromax Spark Vdeo will be up for sale on the e-commerce portal from March 24th. This is the fifth smartphone by Micromax under its Spark range. The Spark Vdeo comes pre-installed with Google Duo, Google s video calling app. Micromax has in the recent past launched multiple devices like the Vdeo 1, Vdeo 2, Vdeo 3, Vdeo 4 and Vdeo 5, which have also focused on video calling app Google Duo. However, with the Micromax Spark Vdeo, the Indian smartphone manufacturer has brought together its two popular series — Spark and Vdeo. On the software front, Micromax Spark Vdeo comes with Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The smartphone comes with a 4.5-inch display. Under the hood of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal memory.
On the camera front, Micromax Spark Vdeo comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The phone supports one-touch video calling, and support for 12 regional languages.
The phone comes in a simple design with the Micromax logo at the back below the camera, and the speaker grille towards the bottom. Up front there is the display, capacitive navigation buttons, and above the display are the earpiece, front camera and the sensors. The volume buttons and the power buttons are on the side of the device. Micromax Spark Vdeo comes in Gold color option, and is powered by a 1,800mAh battery. Apart from the Google Duo app, the phone also comes pre-installed with features such as Doze and App Standby. The device is 4G VoLTE compliant.
The biggest competitor of Micromax Spark Vdeo will be the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 4A. While Xiaomi Redmi 4A is priced slightly higher than Spark Vdeo at Rs 5,999, both the devices are in the entry-level segment though in terms of specifications, Xiaomi Redmi 4A is the better device. Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes with a 5-inch HD display and runs 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor under the hood. The internal storage is 16GB with a 2GB RAM. There is also a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera. The battery is nearly double at 3,120mAh. However, in the sub-5000 segment, there are no real competitors for the device.
