In a Twitter chat with Snapdeal, Micromax announced that it is launching a new smartphone that will be sold exclusively on the online retailer. The smartphone will be priced below Rs 6,000 and will take on Xiaomi’s Redmi 2, ToI reports. Citing industry sources, the report also states that the device will most likely be unveiled in the last week of April. Details on the new smartphone are rather scarce at the moment, but it is rumored to sport a display sized between 4.3-5-inches and will be powered by a quad-core chipset. In its conversation on Twitter, Micromax does say that the new smartphone is going to be ‘nothing like anything’ and that ‘sparks are going to fly!’ indicating good specs at an affordable price.
If we decode Micromax’s latest picture tweet, it includes a spark, a mobile phone, a sale tag, snap of a finger and two hands shaking. We know that the snap of a finger and the handshake stand for Snapdeal. Twitteratis have all got into decoding the image and some say that the smartphone will be called Micromax Canvas Spark.

Today, Lava also launched the Iris Icon smartphone exclusively on Snapdeal for Rs 11,990. Snapdeal has not yet experimented with the flash sale model, and it would be interesting if Micromax decides to sell its latest smartphone via that business model.
