Micromax today sent out media invites for an announcement on March 29. The invite does not reveal anything about the product, it just reveals the date of the event through a mathematical equation. The time and venue of the event is yet to be revealed. Though the invite is cryptic, Micromax recently put up a Twitter post teasing the launch of a new smartphone that could very well boast a dual-camera setup. With a tagline of Cannot Overlook , the tweeted GIF was highlighted by two blingy lens-like circles. And if this calculation comes true, this smartphone would actually be Micromax s first smartphone to join the dual-camera league. According to a recent report, the upcoming Micromax smartphone is likely to be a value-for-money proposition, while boasting a premium metal design. In fact, the design could be completely different from what we have been seeing on Micromax smartphones so far. Additionally, stepping in with the premium smartphones, the company may also ditch the microUSB port, and instead opt for a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The smartphone could also feature support for fast charging technology. RELATED: Micromax teases new smartphone launch, hints at dual-rear camera setup
To join the dots, another report suggested that Micromax is planning to release Bharat I and Bharat II phones, one of which would be a premium smartphone and one would be priced in the budget segment. As a part of its new business strategy, the premium smartphone may be priced between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. Which again would be company s first high-end smartphone after the Canvas 6 Pro, which was launched last year in August.
Micromax, once India s second-largest handset company, lost its market share owing to strong competition from Chinese players such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo. These manufacturers have gained a strong foothold in the Indian smartphone market with their affordable, and feature-rich mobile devices, leaving the native manufacturers out of the league. However, the new release may be Micromax s chance to climb back the ladder. ALSO READ: Qualcomm 205 mobile platform: Partnership with Micromax and Reliance Jio a gamechanger
