Microsoft last year had announced that it will be downgrading 15GB free OneDrive storage to 5GB. It also removed the 15GB bonus camera roll storage, but allowed users to retain the free storage by tapping a ‘Keep your free storage button’. In case, you haven’t tapped on the button, your storage will be reduced to 5GB. Microsoft is reportedly sending out emails to users to inform about the imminent change. Starting July 27, Microsoft will be giving just 5GB of free cloud storage, and has announced discontinuing 15GB of camera roll bonus storage. The after effects
If you fail to bring your OneDrive s content under the new limit in the next 14 days your content will automatically convert into read-only which means you will be able to read all your content but upload none. Further if the user does not take action for one year, the content might even get deleted.
What you can do?
So, if you re a OneDriver users and did not take advantage of OneDrive s storage options, you should head to your account settings and free some space. You can also claim a one year free subscription to Office 365 Personal which comes with 1TB of OneDrive storage. Users can also purchase additional storage on OneDrive. Or, you can simply sign up with Google, which gives you 15GB of free storage on signing up.
