Contrary to earlier rumors about Microsoft’s plans to launch the Surface Mini, new reports suggest that the Redmond-based software giant could instead reveal the Surface 3 Pro with a bigger display. Citing the unpopularity of Windows RT it is very unlikely for Microsoft to launch the Surface Mini, which was claimed to be a smaller tablet with 7.5-inch display. Microsoft is hosting a press event in NYC later today, where it is now speculated to launch the Surface Pro 3 with a bigger 12-inch display. This variant would make up the top-of-the-line range of Surface tablets and will likely appeal to enterprise users, who found the Surface Pro 2’s 10.6-inch display to be small. The Surface Pro 3 is expected to come in five variants starting from an Intel Core i3 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage for $799 going all the way up to an Intel Core i7 processor with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage for $1,949, WPCentral reports.
The Surface Pro 3 is also expected to have thinner bezels and will sport the Windows button on the vertical side instead of the horizontal side.
Microsoft will live stream the press event, which will start from 8:30PM IST.
