A week after rolling out a beta version for AdBlock Plus for Edge, Microsoft is now releasing the feature for Android and iOS. With the new ad blocker provided by Adblock Plus, users will be able to block unwanted ads and enjoy a seamless web browsing experience on their smartphones. The feature can be enabled in the app settings and does not require any separate add-ons.
Adblock Plus is currently the most popular ad blocking tool for both smartphones and PCs. Though other browsers like Chrome and Firefox also come integrated with ad blockers, they aren’t known to work as efficiently as Adblock Plus. Google Chrome’s ad blocker only works well in removing some banner ads and video ads, while Adblock Plus is known to work with almost all websites and is successful in removing all kinds of ads. This should help give Microsoft Edge an added advantage over the other browsers.
That said, Microsoft Edge still has a lot of catching up to do. The browser was launched last year in December and has reached 5 million downloads recently. It’s a lot less if you consider Firefox’s 100 million and Chrome’s 1 billion downloads on Android.

However, Microsoft doesn’t plan on giving up on Edge any time soon. The company is putting a lot of time and effort in coming up with the right features. One of the browser’s key features is the flexibility of continuous browsing, which allows users to easily transition between browsing on different devices. Last week, Microsoft also added a visual search features to Edge, which works like Google Lens, and it is expected to be available on Android and iOS soon.
