SkyDrive.com is a big bet for Microsoft. It is the underlying bit that weaves everything Microsoft has on the cloud, but it’s also a big part of Windows 8. Today, the company has announced a number of improvements to the web interface that will make it better for users of touch based devices and also improve sharing of content from the service. Sharing content from SkyDrive.com is easier than ever. Users can now share documents hosted on the cloud service with their friends on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn or one can just email the document. Users can also individually generate a web link to the document. All this has been collated in one unified interface so sharing of content remains simplistic. The web interface of SkyDrive.com now supports touch based devices even better thanks to the improved HTML 5 support that Microsoft is introducing. The new interface makes it simple to drag and drop files in different folders. Overall, because of the HTML 5 underpinnings the web client behaves more like a native touch-optimized app. Apart from this, there are a number of under the hood changes that make the web interface faster than ever.
