This has sparked rumors that the two are discussing plans to build a Windows Phone device, but nothing is confirmed yet. “Through a new program with Xiaomi, one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year. Xiaomi till date is known for making exclusively Android smartphones at aggressive prices. It rules the China smartphone market, and has been making waves in India since it entered the market last year. After this little ‘program’ with Microsoft, where it will allow Mi 4 users to test Windows 10 preview, the allegiance might see a Xiaomi smartphone running on the Windows Phone platform. This is huge for Microsoft, considering Xiaomi s ever increasing fan base. Details are its discreet best currently, but interest levels have peaked and we can’t wait to see how Windows 10 will take over an Android running Mi 4.

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for 7, 8 and 8.1 users whenever it becomes available. Microsoft is planning on distributing the upcoming Windows 10 updates via a peer-to-peer protocol (P2P). Currently the company is employing client- server networking method wherein updates and the OS will be distributed from a single source. P2P network will kill the dependency on a single server and will aid in easier distribution of the update. Updates and apps can be downloaded from Microsoft and also combination of local PCs along with the usual Windows update server.
