Microsoft launches affordable Windows 10 Notebooks for students

The Windows 10 Notebook is Microsoft's take on Google Chromebooks.

Microsoft, along with its hardware partners, has launched a range of new low-cost Windows 10 laptops to compete with Google‘s Chromebooks. Just like Google’s Chromebooks, the new Windows 10 Notebooks are also focused on the education sector. One of these devices is the Lenovo 100E, which will include an Intel Apollo Lake Celeron CPU, and is priced at $189 (Rs 12,000 approximately). There is also Lenovo 300e, which is a 2-in-1 convertible PC with stylus support, and is priced at $279 (Rs 17,700 approximately).

Apart from that, the company has also announced that its partner JP will launch two cheap laptop models of their own including the Classmate Leap T303, priced at $199 (Rs 12,600 approximately), and the Trigono V401, priced at $299 (Rs 19,000 approximately).

Microsoft in its blog post says that all these devices are spill resistant, and designed to be resistant to shock. The devices are said to have long battery life and 2×2 Wi-Fi for faster connectivity. Microsoft also said it is building support for voice dictation directly into Microsoft Office starting February 2018. Dictation has been supported in Office, with support in 20 languages and real-time translation of up to 60 languages.

Microsoft has also revealed that it is going to release a new and free Chemistry Update for Minecraft: Education Edition to enable teachers to engage students of all ages in this subject. The company has also revealed that the Education Edition is already being used in over 115 countries across the world.
