What seemed like a doomed business once, Microsoft’s Surface tablet has started to bring profits to the company. And that might be the reason, Microsoft is considering few more Surface tablets. According to the report, Microsoft is considering a bigger Surface Pro tablet with a 13-inch or 14-inch display. The current Surface Pro 3 tablet comes with a 12-inch screen, and while the high-resolution screen and other form factors have been able to deliver all the desktop experience, a larger screen could help the company lure in more business customers. Microsoft isn’t the only one looking at luring buyers with a bigger screened tablet. Apple is also widely believed to be working on a 12.2-inch iPad Pro. After losing over a billion dollar on previous generation Surface tablets, Microsoft’s new 12-inch Surface Pro 3 tablet that was launched in May earlier this year has been selling like a hot cake. In the latest earnings report, the sales of Surface Pro 3 were reported to be up by a whopping 127 percent, bringing $908 million revenue. Additionally, the company has also inked deals with major corporations to use the Surface Pro 3 tablet as the main device for their clients.
While a bigger Surface Pro may seem like the right way to go with it, do note that this plan is “still at its early stage, and it still remains uncertain if Microsoft will proceed” with it. It’s also noteworthy to mention that the company was reportedly working on a Surface 3 tablet, as well as a Surface mini tablet. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft takes the Surface business forward.
