Microsoft today sent out invites for a launch event scheduled for tomorrow in New Delhi. The invite has a tagline, The new benchmark in affordable smartphones in India. Going by the tagline, the company could be launching the Lumia 540, which it announced earlier this month. The Lumia 540 is an affordable handset, and at the launch Microsoft had revealed that it will arrive in India early in May. As for specifications, it features a 5-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) IPS display, and 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM.
The smartphone also features 8GB onboard memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera, and a 2,000mAh battery.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and on the software front, it runs on Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft has also promised that the smartphone will be upgraded to Windows 10.
