Microsoft took the wraps off the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640XL at Mobile World Congress last month. The company is now planning on launching the smartphones in India, and has sent out media invites for a launch event on April 7. The Lumia 640 flaunts a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also features 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card.
The smartphone also features an 8.7-megapixel rear camera, 0.9-megapixel front-facing snapper, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, NFC, and on the software front, it runs on Windows 8.1, which will be upgraded to Windows 10.
The Lumia 640XL, on the other hand, flaunts a 5.7 inch HD (1280 720 pixels) IPS LCD display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also features 8GB internal storage, microSD card support, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and on the software front it runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update. Microsoft has also promised a Windows 10 update.
As per Windows Central, Microsoft s new smartphones will be on sale via Flipkart. The smartphone has been listed in the e-commerce site s April commission payouts. Interestingly, the Lumia 640 is listed under the exclusive category. As for pricing rumors, the Lumia 640 is expected to be somewhere close to the Rs 9,999 mark.
