Microsoft quietly updated its Surface Book with not one but two laptops. The Surface Book 2 comes in two different sizes one with a 13.5-inch display and the other with a 15-inch display. The two models are priced at $1,500 (approximately Rs 97,600) and $2,500 (approximately Rs 162,700) respectively. Pre-orders for the Surface Book 2 begin on November 9 with no word on the availability yet. The Surface Book 2 is clad in magnesium casing and comes in silver color. It retains the same design language as the Surface Book. It comes with support for Surface Pen, which has to be bought separately for a price of $99 (approximately Rs 6,500). Both the Surface Book 2 models come with slight differences other than the display sizes. Here’s a look at the specifications with the similarities addressed first.
Microsoft Surface Book 2 specifications
The Surface Book 2 features a 13.5-inch and 15-inch PixelSense Ultra HD resolution display with 3:2 aspect ratio. Both the laptops offer three storage options of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. The Surface Book 2 is integrated for Enterprise-grade protection with Windows Hello facial recognition system. A dedicated Windows Hello camera is located on the front of the laptops. On the software front, both models run the latest Windows Pro Creators Update 64-bit. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, two USB 3.1 ports, 1 USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, two Surface Connect ports, and an SD card reader. The laptops are also compatible with Surface Dial. In the photography department, the Surface Book 2 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel camera. The laptops are further equipped with dual microphones, and Dolby Audio Premium front-facing stereo speakers. Coming to the differences, the Surface Book 2 13.5-inch further comes in two variants of 8GB and 16GB of RAM. One variant of the laptop is powered by 7th Gen Intel i5 dual-core processor clocked at 3.5GHz paired with Intel HD Graphics 620 GPU. The other variant runs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 quad-core processor clocked at 4.2GHz with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU.
The Surface Book 2 15-inch, on the other hand, comes with 16GB of RAM, and is powered by an 8th Gen Intel i7 quad-core processor. For graphics, it uses NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU. This model of the Surface Book 2 also comes with support for Xbox Wireless built-in.
