With the hugely-popular Surface range of laptops, hybrids, and AIOs, Microsoft has shown that it’s not just about software products. With their premium design and top-of-the-line specifications, Surface devices are an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a high-end Windows-based PCs.

But, as great as it is, the Surface line-up has been marred in the past by quality and reliability concerns, including issues such as unexpected shutdowns and random freezes. Due to this, Consumer Reports, a popular US-based magazine dedicated to product reviews, had withdrawn its ‘recommended’ badge for Surface laptops last year.

That has changed, as the magazine is now recommending Microsoft Surface products to its users once again.

“Microsoft’s reliability is now on-par with most other laptop brands,” noted a report by The Verge, quoting Martin Lachter, a senior research associate at Consumer Reports.

It’s worth mentioning that the publication had revoked its ‘recommended’ rating after a survey of 90,000 tablet and laptop owners, which revealed that 25-percent of Surface owners reported having problems with their devices within two years of purchase.

As noted by The Verge report, the revised ratings of Consumer Reports apply to most products in Microsoft’s Surface line-up, including Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, and Surface Book 2.

In related news, it seems Microsoft is all set to launch to launch its new Surface devices on October 2. These could include the next-generation Surface Studio, Surface Pro 6, and Surface Laptop 2. A recent leak from a Vietnamese website had claimed that the upcoming Surface Pro 6 won’t be that much different from its predecessor.
