Microsoft Surface tablet images appear in patent filings

The device is expected to launch at BUILD 2018.

Reports in the past have suggested that Microsoft is working on a foldable mobile device that will be powered by Andromeda, the full Windows 10 on ARM + Cshell. The new patent images show in more detail. It also reveals intricate hinge designs, complete with internal magnets for maintaining different folded, or unfolded configurations. A continuous display triggered by two OLED panels appears to be the basis of the patent. Reports also suggest that there might even be a USB Type-C port in it. The notebook is also said to come with Multiple folded modes for different user experiences based on the screen angle. Different setups for the device include tablet mode, tent mode, laptop mode, and folded mode.

According to a report published today, the device will run a special Windows 10 version codenamed Andromeda. The folding tablet will reportedly include a note taking app that will allow the user to use both screens as though they were writing in a regular notebook.

A tipster, who goes by the name Walking Cat has revealed on Twitter a list of apps in the Windows Storeunde the codename windows-8828080′. According to the Walking Cat, these apps are linked into Andromeda.

The design shows two edge-to-edge displays which are positioned such that they touch each other with a very little gap. The company is also reportedly using gear-like cogs to create this adjustable hinge, allowing the device to hold in different positions.
