Microsoft has officially unveiled its Apple iPad Pro rival, Surface Pro 4. The follow-up to the Surface Pro 3, launched last year, runs Windows 10 out of the box. Also Read - Windows 11 Sun Valley teased officially with YouTube video ahead of June 24 reveal
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has 12.3-inches display with 267 ppi. It has similar design to the Surface Pro 3, but with slimmed the bezels, and expanded real estate for viewing. Other features include a G4 touch chipset, 1.1m backlit unit, 0.4 mm gorilla glass. It is 8.4 mm thick. It is powered by Intel’s 6th generation processor. It comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Stylus can now be attached to the tab by a magnet on the side. The updated Surface Pen comes with an eraser on it. The Pen comes with all year battery life. There’s a dedicated Pen storage. The stylus also uses Cortana for various applications (including third party apps) on the Surface Pro 4. Microsoft also detailed its PixelSense technology. Microsoft says the Surface Pro 4 is 30% faster and 50% faster than Apple’s Macbook Air. The new Surface Pro 4 docking station features four USB 3.0, two 4K Displayport and ethernet ports. The new docking station works with the Surface Pro 3.
Microsoft reveals new Type cover, which it says is lighter, thinner and sturdier. The keyboard is backlit and 40% larger trackpad. The tablet comes with fingerprint scanner on the keyboard.
Pricing of the Surface Pro 4 starts at $899. It will be available for preorder on October 7th and will be available starting October 26th.
At the event, Microsoft at its event highlighted overwhelming response to the last year’s Surface Pro 3. It also claimed a whopping 98 percent of Surface Pro 3 users have recommended the device to their friends and families.
