Microsoft s Windows Phone 8.1 update will reportedly allow users to add background image on the homescreen ,which will be visible through the Tiles including Live Tiles on the screen. WindowsBlogItalia has posted screenshots of the Windows Phone 8.1 interface which suggest that the Tiles on the homescreen will be transparent and can be skinned with an image or photo placed in the background. Reportedly, this new skinned-Tile interface will be customizable, and will be activated or deactivated as per a user’s preference. Users will have to select a background image including gallery images to be skinned to the Tiles. Though this won”t be applicable on all the Tiles, and apps like Games, Office, and Xbox Music will not be transparent, and will instead be featured in their original form.
Users will be able to use the existing accent colors of the Tiles even in the updated interface.
Previous leaks and reports have suggested that the update will bring a Swype like-keyboard interface, a notification centre and a host of other new features on-board. Microsoft is expected to launch the Windows 8.1 update at BUILD conference, San Francisco from April 2-4.
