Meizu launched the M1 Note in India two days ago, and it has gone on sale exclusively on Amazon India from today.priced at Rs 11,999. We pit the the Xiaomi Mi 4i and the Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) against the newest entrant to see how they fare in the specification battle.
The Meizu M1 Note is cheapest in the lineup and is priced at Rs 11,999 whereas the Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) and Xiaomi Mi 4i are priced slightly higher at Rs 12,999. The Meizu M1 Note will be available exclusively on Amazon India, while the other two are sold on Flipkart. The Zenfone 2 is available freely just like the M1 Note, while the Mi 4i is sold via the weekly flash sale model and is set to go on sale tomorrow.
Both the M1 Note and Zenfone 2 have a 5.5-inch display. In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi 4i has a smaller 5-inch screen. The displays on all the smartphones are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Both the M1 Note and Mi 4i feature a full HD 1080p display, while the Zenfone 2 has a lower resolution 720p display. Owing to the display size, the Mi 4i has the highest pixel density of the three. It also has what Xiaomi calls “Sunlight Display”, which performs better under sunlight.
The Meizu M1 Note has a MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor while the Xiaomi Mi 4i is powered by a Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset. Lastly, the Zenfone 2 ZE550ML has an Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core chipset. All three smartphones are paired with 2GB RAM.
While all the three smartphones have 16GB of internal memory storage, the Xiaomi Mi 4i does not have a microSD slot for expanding the 16GB memory further. The other two smartphone can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card.
On the photography front, all the smartphones sport a 13-megapixel rear sensor and a 5-megapixel front snapper.
In terms of battery, the M1 Note ranks higher with a 3,140mAh cell, whereas the Mi 4i has a 3,120mAh battery, and the Zenfone 2 lags slightly behind with a 3,000mAh battery respectively. Again, nothing much to choose from among the three.
On the software front, the Mi 4i and Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) run on Android Lollipop. However both the smartphones have home customized skins on top which makes their interface looks completely different than stock Android. The Meizu M1 Note, on the other hand, runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with its Flyme 4.0 skin on top.
All the three smartphones are closely matched. We like the single-handed use case of the Mi 4i, but those looking at a bigger display can choose between the M1 Note and the Zenfone 2. The Zenfone 2 has a good low-light camera experience but lags behind in terms of display resolution.
