After Xiaomi announced the MIUI 9 OS last month, it has now entered the second phase of the rollout. Now, MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM v7.8.24 is being rolled out to select Mi smartphones that include Mi Max, Mi Max 2, Mi Note 2, Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The company recently concluded the final MIUI 9 beta tests and now invites testers and early adopters for the Global Beta ROM.
The latest MIUI 9 ROM brings a host of interesting feature upgrades and bug fixes. According to MIUI 9 blog post, the Global ROM renames Mi Picks as Meet apps and Mi Remote can be only paired to Mi TV or Mi Box. It also includes a redesigned homepage, lock screen, status bar and notification bar. The MIUI 9 Global beta ROM v7.8.24 can be downloaded from the official thread on MIUI blog.
If you have already been testing MIUI 9 Beta versions or interested to try the Global Beta ROM ensure that you create a local back up of important data and settings on your phone before you proceed with the installation. Users currently running stable MIUI 8 ROM and below can upgrade to MIUI 9 via the fastboot method that will require you to download the MIUI ROM Flashing Tool. Those of you already running MIUI 9 Beta ROM can simply check for the Global ROM update package from the updater app on your Mi smartphone and download the latest update package available to you.
