Xiaomi today made the MIUI 9 custom OS official at its Beijing event. Now that it has released, you must be eager to know if you will get the latest MIUI iteration on your Xiaomi smartphone and if yes, then when? Allow us to break it down for you.
The company has announced that the MIUI 9 Developer updates will be rolled out next month for early adopters and developers. The upgrade will be rolled out for Mi, Redmi and Note series smartphones. Xiaomi says the Mi 6, Mi 5X and Redmi Note 4X will be first of the smartphones to get the MIUI 9 update over-the-air (OTA) on August 11.
Other Xiaomi smartphone to get the MIUI 9 OS upgrade include the Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5c, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi Note Pro, and Redmi 4X. The second developer phase rollout is scheduled for August 25. Once out of the developer phase, the custom ROM will be released to the general public in the month of September. Till now the feature remained unavailable to Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 users. As per the company, MIUI 9 offers quick boot up time for apps backed by dynamic resource allocation feature. Following the footsteps of Google Assistant, Samsung Bixby, and other AI assistant, Xiaomi has announced its own smart assistant in MIUI 9. The artificial intelligence assistant is said to be capable of scanning schedules, notes, messages and other activities on your smartphone and accordingly offer you assistance.
