More British users shun morning coffee for smartphones

Nearly 67 percent of 18-24 year younger adults are busy in YouTube or the latest game they are playing within 15 minutes of getting out of bed, the survey of 4,000 people added. “Mobile phones have clearly become something of an addiction for many and has led to some people looking to unplug their devices and undergo a digital detox,” David Taylor, a director (north east) at Deloitte, was quoted as saying. The “digital detox” camps are where a smartphone-addicted person surrender the device to experience “life off the grid”. According to the findings, one in six user looks at the device more than 50 times a day. Young adults are the most intensive users, checking their device on average 53 times a day – some even as much as 100 times a day. Most smartphone owners first check their text messages, but 25 percent of users go to their email first and 14 percent log on to social networks, it concluded.
