Ahead of Mother’s Day this year, Google has posted a short film titled “Seed” shot entirely using a Google Glass. An Indian origin student, Aneesh Chaganty, from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts shot the movie themed around the Mother’s Day. The young filmmaker made this movie as a part of Google’s Glass Creative Collective, which funded the production of his movie.
The Google Glass has been criticized for its practicality, and the company has been trying its best to portray a better image for the wearable device. With this new movie, it is essentially trying to tell how a user can use Glass at different places — like the airport, while traveling in a cab, or during the flight. Chaganty show the 2:30 minute movie in 10 days at places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo and India. “It was the first introduction to acting I’ve ever had,” Chaganty told Mashable. The movie has been filmed as an emotional Mother’s day message and does not have any audio. Instead, it is entirely based on video to convey the story of impending parenthood, and a child’s journey back home to share good news to his mother. On the controversy about privacy invasion, Chaganty said, “We made it a very clear point to never show…if someone was not aware that I was shooting, we would never show their full face.
