Motorola launched the Moto G6 series earlier this year in Brazil, but the preceding G5 line-up hasn t been forgotten (yet). The Lenovo-owned company has finally started seeding Android Oreo to its Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones. The duo was unveiled last year at Mobile World Congress with Android 7.0 Nougat on-board, so it s good to see Motorola updating the smartphones with a (somewhat) newer OS version.

It s worth mentioning that the rollout is staggered. According to a report by GSMArena, the G5 Oreo update is currently only available in Mexico. As for the G5 Plus, it s getting the update in Brazil and India only. Due to the phased nature, it may take a while for all active Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus units across the world to get their first taste of Android Oreo.

Getting back to the present, Motorola is all set to bring the most-powerful member of the G6 line-up to India. The Lenovo-owned company recently confirmed that Moto G6 Plus will be launching in the country on September 10, posting teasers on its social channels regarding the same.

Moto G6 Plus will join the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play, which have already been available in the country since June 2018.

Moto G6 Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. There s also an expansion slot that can take up microSD cards of up to 256GB. The smartphone has a 5.99-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 2160 pixels, and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It s splash-resistant and runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box, with an upgrade to Android Pie scheduled to arrive soon. The software experience is mostly stock, with Motorola s usual helpful customizations sprinkled across the board.

For imaging, Moto G6 Plus has a dual-camera system at the back, comprised of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. There s also an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for handling selfies and video calls. The smartphone features all modern connectivity options (USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio ports included), with a 3,200mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet.
