After the Android 8.1 Oreo soak test for the Moto G5 Plus, Motorola has also started pushing out the soak test for the Moto G5. The Android 8.1 Oreo soak test update for the Moto G5 is reportedly 1,108MB in size, and has build number 28.85-3. It also brings July 2018 Android security patch to the device. As for the changelog, the Android 8.1 Oreo will come with many enhancements including new multitasking features, improved data and battery saver features, Bluetooth improvements, more efficient notification controls, and new power menu UI. Similar to the earlier soak test updates from Lenovo-owned Motorola, users will need to enroll their device to Motorola s Feedback Network (MFN) to get the update.
The Moto G5 Plus users in Brazil, India and some other markets have reportedly started receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update as well. For the G5 Plus, the update brings Google Pixel 2 like launcher along with a new style power menu. The icons in status bar and settings have got a Google Pixel-like icon redesign. It now has a new animation for shutting down and reboot. Motorola has also brought a new Moto action feature for screenshots using three fingers gesture. Lastly, users now have a Light and a Dark theme support with automatic wallpaper change.

Now with the Moto G5S Plus, Moto G5 Plus and the Moto G5 already receiving Android 8.1 Oreo soak test update, it is expected that Motorola may soon push the update for Moto G5S as well.
