Motorola has officially started to roll out the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Moto G5 Plus smartphones with improved user interface, new features and latest July security patch. The update is said to be limited to soak test users, and users registered with the Motorola Feedback Network (MFN), as reported by MySmartPrice. The Android 8.1 Oreo update for the G5 Plus brings Google Pixel 2 like launcher along with a new style power menu. The icons in status bar and settings have got a Google Pixel-like icon redesign. It now has a new animation for shutting down and reboot. Motorola has also brought a new Moto action feature for screenshots using three fingers gesture. Lastly, users now have a ‘Light’ and a ‘Dark’ theme support with automatic wallpaper change.
Lenovo-owned Motorola had launched the Moto G5 Plus last year in April. It was launched at a price of Rs 14,999, and with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Moto G5 Plus specifications and features
The Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display along with Gorilla Glass 3 protection layered on top. Under the hood of the smartphone, runs Qualcomm s Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC. The smartphone comes in three variants of 2GB RAM plus 32GB storage, 3GB of RAM plus 32GB storage and 4GB of RAM plus 64GB onboard storage. The internal storage is further expandable via a microSD card.
For photography, the Moto G5 Plus is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, dual autofocus pixel, dual-tone LED flash and 4K video recording capability. The smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel wide angle selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture. The Moto G5 Plus packs a 3000mAh battery with TurboCharging feature which company claims to offer 6 hours of battery after 15 minutes of charge.
