Even as Nokia hogged all the limelight with the launch of Nokia 3310 redux and a slew of new Android smartphones, Lenovo-owned Motorola at the same time announced the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at the ongoing MWC 2017 in Barcelona. Shortly after the global announcement, Motorola has sent out invites for an event in Delhi on March 15 where it will launch the Moto G5-series for the Indian market. Though the invite just mentions the Moto G5 Plus, it s highly likely the company will announce the release date for the smaller variant on that day. Last year as well, Motorola had launched the Moto G4 Plus first and then launched the Moto G4 the following month. The Moto G5 has been priced at Euro 199 which rounds off to Rs 14,000 approximately, and $299 for the Moto G5 Plus which is Rs 15,250 approximately. Motorola is likely to launch the new Moto G phones around the same price as the G4 and G4 Plus, which were launched last year.
The latest Moto G5 series comes with popular features like Moto Display and shake gestures. Both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will also be receiving Google Assistant. The smartphones will be available in color options of fine gold and lunar gray. The smartphones also come with dual-SIM support. The Moto G5 Plus flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD display. At the core of the smartphone, it runs Qualcomm s Snapdragon 625 chipset which is known for its excellent balance of power and battery efficiency. The smartphone comes with 2/3/4 GB of RAM and storage options of 32GB and 64 GB. The availability of the different variants will depend on the market. In the photography department, the Moto G5 Plus sports a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
For power, the Moto G5 Plus uses a 3,000mAh removable battery and the smartphone is compatible with Motorola s TurboPower fast charging technology.
