Earlier this month, Lenovo-owned Motorola launched the Moto G5S, and the Moto G5S Plus in international markets. Today, the company has launched both the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus in India. The Moto G5S is priced at Rs 13,999, and the Moto G5S Plus at Rs 15,999. Both the smartphones will go on sale tonight at 11:59PM exclusively via Amazon India and will be available at Moto Hub as well. The Moto G5S Plus will be available in two colors of gray and gold. As the names suggest, the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus are upgrades to the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus launched earlier this year. Both the smartphones go through some changes under the hood and on the exterior as well. Motorola has retained the all-metal unibody design, but with visible antenna lines running on the back of the smartphones. The front panel looks pretty much the same with the pill shaped Home button intact.
Moto G5S specifications
As far as specifications are concerned, the Moto G5S, features a 5.2-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass protection on top. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with internal storage of 32GB which is further expandable via a microSD card. In terms of optics, the Moto G5S sports a 16-megapixel rear camera of f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. Up front, it houses a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera of f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash too.
Fuelling the smartphone is a 3,000mAh battery with support for TurboPower charging claimed to offer five hours of juice with 15 minutes of charge. On the software front, it runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Moto G5S Plus specifications, features
The higher variant of the two, the Moto G5S Plus flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display with 401ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is Qualcomm s Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz and paired with Adreno 506 GPU. There is also 4GB of RAM on offer, along with 64GB internal storage. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The biggest upgrade on the Moto G5 series is the dual-camera module on the Moto G5S Plus. The setup includes a pair of 13-megapixel sensors. With built-in depth editor, the setup allows for selective focus mode to achieve DSLR-like depth-of-field effect in photos. The camera also comes with f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED flash, auto HDR, and 8X digital zoom. The camera is capable of shooting videos in 4K, and also supports slo-mo capture. For selfies, there s an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, and beautification mode.
The device is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with support for Turbo charging. Motorola says that 15 minutes of charging is good enough to offer up to six hours of power. As with most Moto smartphones, the Moto G5S Plus too comes with a water repellant nano coating. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz+5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, micro-USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The Moto G5S Plus also comes with features like Moto display and action. Moto display allows you to interact with the notifications without unlocking your smartphone. Similar to iOS night shift, Moto display will tone down the blue light on your smartphone. Moto action allows one key navigation and one handed usage on the Moto G5S Plus.
To put these specifications into perspective, the Moto G5 Plus was launched with features like 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone was launched in two variants 16GB storage with 3GB RAM for Rs 14,999, and 32GB storage with 4GB RAM for Rs 16,999.
