Motorola has just announced the launch of its Moto G6 and G6 Play smartphones. The Lenovo-owned company twitted a teaser of the smartphones, that ends by saying “Coming Soon”. The tweet is accompanied by a 14 second video, which goes on to invite gaming pros, techies, movie buffs, artists, photographers, explorers, fashionistas. Motorola has also created a dedicated website for the smartphones, where you can sign-up and get more information about the launch.
Motorola has already launched the two phones in Brazil and are gearing up for a launch in China on 17 May. The company hasn’t mentioned a particular date, but it may happen soon in India as well. There’s not much information about the pricing either, but in Brazil, the Moto G6 is retailing for $249 (approximately Rs 16,900) and the G6 Play is coming for $199 (approximately Rs 13,500).

Moto G6 specifications and features
The Moto G6 is said to feature a 5.7-inch full HD+ (2160 x 1080) screen, with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset. There are two configurations for RAM and storage; 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. The phone is also said to support external storage up to 128GB via a microSD card.
In the optics department, the phone will be featuring a dual-rear camera setup, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. For selfies, the phone is said to have a 16-megapixel camera at the front. The phone will be packing a 3,000mAh battery and will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
Moto G6 Play specifications and features
Moto G6 Play being the cheaper variant, will be coming with a 5.7-inch screen, featuring HD+ (1440 x 720) resolution. The phone is expected to run either the Snapdragon 430 SoC or the 427 SoC. The base model of the phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the high-end variant will be coming with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Like the Moto G6, the phone will support an expandable storage of 128GB.

For capturing images, the phone will be coming with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-magapixel front camera. Underneath the hood, the phone will be sporting a 4,000mAh battery and will also be running on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
Both phones are said to have Dual-SIM slots and feature Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.2. The Moto G6 is likely to feature a Type-C port, while the G6 Play is said to be coming with a micro-USB port. Besides that, both phones are also said to feature Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection.
