While rumors hinted that Lenovo-owned Motorola will launch the next-gen Moto G-series smartphones at MWC 2018, the company did not announce any smartphone at the event. However, it seems like Motorola may instead launch the new devices at a separate event sometime in the coming months. We have already come across Moto G6-series leak, and now live photos of the Moto G6 Play, along with its specifications have surfaced online. The device has reportedly been certified by Taiwan s NCC agency. From what we can see in the leaked photos (courtesy of TrendyTechz), the final design looks identical to the Moto E5 Plus renders that we have seen in previous leaks. The Moto G6 Play does retain the 3.5mm audio socket, and headphones are included inside the retail box, the leak reveals.
Bearing model number XT 1922-1, the smartphone will come with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD HD+ display running at a resolution of 1440×720 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is a good news for Moto fans as they will finally get the tall display, on the budget Moto G6 Play. The leak also reveals that the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.4GHz.
The Moto G6 Play will be available in two different configurations 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. In the photography department, the smartphone is likely to sport a 16-megapixel camera at the back with LED flash, and a 16-megapixel camera on the front.
Armed with a 4,000mAh battery, connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone is expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, and a fingerprint sensor is also expected at the back, embedded in the Moto logo.
