Earlier this year in June, Lenovo-owned Motorola launched the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play smartphones in India, and today, the company has launched the third member from the family, the Moto G6 Plus. Compared to the other two, the ‘Plus’ variant comes with a slightly larger display and a better chipset. Here’s how the Moto G6 Plus is different from the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play.
Price in India and availability
The Moto G6 Plus will set you back by Rs 22,499. Buyers can get Rs 3,000 cash back when they purchase the smartphone from Paytm Mall. The Moto G6 is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 32GB storage variant, and Rs 15,999 for the 64GB storage variant. The G6 Play, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 11,999. All three smartphones are available to purchase via Amazon India and leading retail stores.

Design and display
The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus come with front and back glass design, whereas the Play variant comes with a ‘polymer glass,’ which is nothing but plastic with glossy finish. The Moto G6 Play comes with fingerprint scanner placed at the back, inside the Motorola logo, whereas on the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus, the scanner is placed below the display.
In terms of display, the G6 Play comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ panel, whereas the G6 comes with a 5.7-inch full HD+ panel. The Plus variant, on the other hand, features an even larger 5.99-inch full HD+ panel. All three smartphone displays come with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Specifications
Under the hood, both the Moto G6 and G6 Play are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with an octa-core CPU, whereas the Moto G6 Plus comes with a slightly better Snapdragon 630 SoC. The G6 Plus is offered in only one storage variant, featuring 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The Moto G6 Play is also offered in a single storage variant featuring 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, whereas the Moto G6 is offered in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. All three smartphones come with a microSD card slot for expandable storage option.
Cameras
The Moto G6 Play comes with a 13-megapixel rear snapper and an 8-megapixel front snapper with LED flash. The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus both pack dual cameras at the back – a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor for bokeh effects. Up front, while the Moto G6 Plus comes with an 8-megapixel sensor, the Moto G6 comes with a high-resolution 16-megapixel snapper. The front cameras on all three smartphones also support face unlock.
Battery, connectivity, OS
To keep things ticking, the G6 Play comes with a massive 4,000mAh battery, the G6 comes with a 3,000mAh battery, whereas the G6 Plus comes with a 3,200mAh battery. There is also support for turbo charge feature for quick charging.
On the software front, all three smartphones run stock Android Oreo out of the box. All three smartphones will also be upgraded to Android Pie OS this fall. In terms of connectivity, all smartphones come with dual SIM card support, 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi and GPS.
