Motorola’s upcoming smartphones including the Moto G6 family and Moto X5 leaked last month. The leak revealed that all these devices will switch to display supporting 18:9 aspect ratio when they are officially announced this month. The leak last month claimed that Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus will sport displays with resolution of 2160×1080 pixels while G6 Play will offer a display supporting 1440×720 pixels. However, the HTML5 test database suggests that all the three models will feature a display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The Moto G6 Play is expected to launch with model number XT1922, and its Wi-Fi certification shows that it will be powered by Snapdragon 430 chipset, which is same as the one found on Moto G5S. The certification listing also reveals that the device will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has also certified two other unannounced Motorola smartphones with model number XT1924 and XT1944, both of these devices are using Snapdragon 425 chipset. The use of low-end Snapdragon chipset suggests that these devices could be the upcoming Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus. Both the models run Android 8.0 Oreo again.
The leaks suggest that Moto G6 series will ditch the metal unibody design and switch to metal chassis with 3D glass back similar to Moto X4 this year. The Moto G6 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display, and will launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. The G6 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to sport a 5.93-inch Full HD+ display, and will be powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset.
The Moto G6 is likely to launch in two storage options 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. The Moto G6 Plus will bump that up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Both the devices are expected to share same camera setup with 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual rear camera at the back, and a 16-megapixel image sensor at the front.
