Moto M2 with 6GB of RAM expected to be launched in October

The Moto M2 will be successor to the Moto M, which was launched last year.

Lenovo-backed Motorola is reportedly working on a successor to its Moto M smartphone, which was launched last year. Called Moto M2, the second-generation model is expected to be launched in India sometime later this year according to latest report. The information comes from leakster Andri Yatim, who also suggests that the Moto M2 will be released in more markets in October 2017. If the leaks are to believed then the Moto M2 will feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, and will be powered by a MediaTek processor. It is expected to be available in two storage variants of 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. Although the tweet is scant on details about the Moto M2, last month a Lenovo smartphone codenamed XT1902-3 was spotted on GeekBench while another model codenamed XT1902-2 received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance. These two models are said to be the different variants of the Moto M2 smartphone.

The XT1902-3 model achieves a score of 1,163 in the single-core test and 4,836 in multi-core test. The GeekBench listing further reveals that the smartphone packs a MediaTek Helio X20 1.85GHz deca-core processor with 4GB of RAM, and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The second model XT1902-2 will reportedly support single-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4GHz) and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity features. The Wi-Fi certification further reveals that this model will be powered by a Helio P20 (MT6757CH) processor and run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In comparison, the Moto M is equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display with 2.5D curved glass. It is powered a MediaTek Helio P15 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with Mali T860MP2 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For photography, it packs a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and Phase Detection Auto-focus (PDAF) support and up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE, Dolby ATMOS music support, fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB Type-C port, NFC, and 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone carries a price tag of Rs 15,999.
