Some companies have revealed a vague timeline for the roll out of the update on their smartphones. Joining the list is Motorola. According to DroidLife, the company has confirmed that the Moto Z family and the Moto G4 and G4 Plus will soon receive the Android 7.0 update. A Motorola spokesperson has said to expect to see Android N on the Moto Z family and Moto G4 beginning in Q4. Q4 begins from October, therefore Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Play, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus could see the update in just a few days. Regarding the other Moto devices, the company said that upgrades are about getting it right and making sure the phone performance remains the best it can be, and will share upgrade plans for other products and more specific timing later. About a month ago, Sony revealed which of its smartphones will be updated to the latest Android version, v7.0 Nougat. The list includes top-end Xperia smartphones like the Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia X Performance, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. Now, Sony has also revealed the timeline of the update for all its devices. The Xperia X Performance and XZ be the first ones to receive Google s latest Android version 7.0 update, and the rollout will begin sometime next month. The next lot of devices that would get Nougat update are the Xperia X and X Compact, and the update will come around November. All the Xperia Z5 series lineup (Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact), Xperia Z3+ and Z4 tablet) will get the update in the third cycle, which will be arriving in December. The next and final round of update will be available for the Xperia XA and Xperia Ultra smartphones early next year. LG s V20 is going to be the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 out-of-the-box. The update, though, has been rolled out to Google s Nexus and Android One lineup. Besides Sony and LG, Samsung has announced Android 7.0 update for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 variants. HTC has also confirmed it will be rolling out the update to its HTC 10, One A9 and One M9 smartphones.
Android Nougat 7.0 update is bringing in a host of new features like multi-window support, which allows users to run two apps side-by-side. Google has also updated the notification centre with inline reply feature, which will give users the ability to reply to text messages right from the notifications panel.
Google has also worked on battery conservation in update by offering background optimizations to doze mode. There is also Project Svelte, which focuses on RAM optimizations to minimize memory used by apps. Other features such as improved data saver, picture-in-picture and TV recording, number blocking, call screening and always on VPN are also a part of the package. Support for Vulkan API for smoother graphics performance and support for Emoji Unicode 9 are other features that you get with Android Nougat 7.0.
