Lenovo-owned Motorola had globally announced the Moto Z and Moto Z Play back in June. After a period of three months, the two smartphones were finally launched in India with a price tag of Rs 39,999 and Rs 24,999 respectively. The most exciting and interesting part about the Moto Z smartphones are the Moto Mods which fall under Motorola s unique semi-modular concept that allows users to snap on an external module on the smartphones. The Moto Z and Moto Z Play smartphones along with the Moto Mods will be going on sale tonight at 11:59PM via Amazon India and Flipkart. The company has a few offers lined up for buyers opting for either of the Moto Z smartphones and the Moto Mods. For starters, a wooden Moto style shell will be pre-bundled in the box. Exchange offers have become a huge trend on both Amazon India and Flipkart, and the Moto Z and Moto Z Play will be available with exchange bonuses of up to Rs 25,500. Buyers will also be able to take advantage of ‘no cost’ EMI offers that start from Rs 2,084 for Moto Z Play and Rs 3,334 for the Moto Z. Additionally, buyers using an Axis Bank or Standard Chartered card will receive cash back of up to 10 percent on Flipkart.
Apart from the smartphones, there’s also an introductory pricing on all Moto Mods. There are four Moto Mods available in India, which include the JBL SoundBoost Speaker, Hasselbad True Zoom Camera, Instashare Projector and Incipio offGRID Power Pack. The speaker will be available for Rs 5,999 (down from Rs 6,999), the camera will be available for Rs 14,999 (down from Rs 19,999), the projector will be available for Rs 15,999 (down from Rs 19,999), and the power pack will be available for Rs 4,999 (down from Rs 5,999). Motorola also launched the Style Shells, which will be available in ballistic nylon finish and leather finish. The ballistic finish will be available for Rs 899 (down from Rs 1,099), while the leather finish will be available for Rs 1,299 (down from Rs 1,599).
The JBL SoundBoost Speaker adds two 27mm speakers to the Moto Z, and in the process offers high-quality JBL stereo sound on the move. This Moto Mod also comes with a kickstand for support, and a 1,000mAh battery that the company claims is good enough to last for 10 hours of audio playback on a single charge. The Hasselbad True Zoom Camera boosts the smartphones photographic capabilities by offering a 12-megapixel snapper with 10x optical zoom, xenon flash, and also an option to shoot images in RAW format. The Instashare Projector can project a screen of up to 70-inches on a wall or ceiling. However, the resolution of the displayed screen is only 480p. The Incipio offGRID Power Pack comes with a 2,220mAh battery aimed to provide extra battery life of up to 20 hours. Just snapping the Moto Mod on the Moto Z smartphones automatically recharges the smartphones. It also comes with a smart Efficiency Mode, which can give up to 20 percent more battery life by automatically charging when efficiency is at its peak.
The Moto Z joins smartphones like Le Eco s Le 2 series smartphones and the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in removing the 3.5mm audio jack. This ultimately results in using USB Type-C port for charging and audio. The Moto Z Play, on the other hand, boasts a battery life that can extend beyond 50 hours on ‘mixed usage’. The 3,510mAh battery also supports TurboPower that can deliver up to nine hours worth of power in 15 minutes of charging.
