At Lenovo s Tech World 2016 event, the company announced the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones. However, the rumored Play variant, and the successor to Moto X Play 2015, wasn t announced. Now, it seems like the Moto Z Play announcement could be getting closer. The smartphone was recently spotted on India s import and export website, Zauba, which also reveals some of its specifications. According to the listing, Motorola Vertex with 5.5-inch display has been imported in India for testing purpose. Here, Vertex is the codename for Moto Z Play, GizmoChina reports. While details about the display are missing, past rumors pointed at 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. The alleged Moto Z Play smartphone was also recently spotted on GeekBench, shedding light on its specifications and features.
Moto Z Play specifications, features: As per the GeekBench listing, the smartphone was spotted running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. It is powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.02GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM.
Earlier rumors also pointed at a 3,000mAh battery, 16-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. While other details on pricing and availability are scarce at the moment, we expect more leaks to pour in as the launch draws closer. Also, ti remains to be seen if the Moto Z Play would also get the modular functionality or not.
Lenovo has already announced that it will be brining the Moto Z modular smartphone with Moto Mods in India, sometime in September-October. The Moto Z Play could also be announced at the same time.
