Lenovo-owned Motorola has typically maintained only its affordable line-up of smartphones in India, which are sold with an online-first focus. However, coming soon after the launch of the Rs 24,999 Moto X4 (6GB RAM) is the Moto Z2 Force. The phone goes on sale on February 16 at midnight on Flipkart, priced at Rs 34,999. As part of the deal, Motorola is also bundling the TurboPower Mod with the phone, offering additional value and giving buyers an immediate start into the modular capabilities of the smartphone. The Moto Z2 Force was launched globally back in July 2017, and is admittedly late to India. However, the device is fairly well equipped to compete in the flagship smartphone space at this price, thanks to top-end features and specifications. The Moto Z2 Force is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and comes with 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED screen, and a 2,730mAh battery. The device also features a dual-camera setup at the rear, with two 12-megapixel sensors in an RGB-plus-monochrome arrangement. Additionally, the Moto Z2 Force comes with Android Oreo out-of-the-box, with Moto s near-stock Android user interface and Moto Experience suite pre-loaded.
The standout features of the Moto Z2 Force go beyond its specification sheet, though. The Force moniker indicates that the phone has a ShatterShield display, which is Motorola s specially designed screen technology that protects it from damage from rough usage and drops. The screen is guaranteed not to shatter even with drops that would ordinary damage the screens of most other smartphones.
Additionally, the Moto Z2 Force is also part of the company s modular-friendly range of devices. Moto Mods Motorola s modules for its Z-series phones were launched with the first Moto Z back in 2016, and are designed to work with any Z-series device. These modules allow for additional functionality for the phone, and are connected to the device easily through magnetic clamps. Mods add varying modes of functionality, including wireless charging, additional battery life, enhanced speakers or camera capabilities, screen projection and more.
The Moto Z2 Force is being sold in India for Rs 34,999 exclusively online through Flipkart, but will also be available soon at Moto Hub offline stores. The TurboPower Mod, which is being bundled with the phone, offers fast charging and additional battery life for the device, through its 3,490mAh battery. The Moto Z2 Force sees Motorola return to the flagship space after a long gap, and will take on the OnePlus 5T, which is the current segment champion.
