Motorola Canada posted a teaser yesterday on its official Twitter handle about launching a new smartphone today. Their tweet read, Guess what?! We re announcing the next bold phone from Motorola on June 1st. While the device wasn t mentioned, all bets are on the Moto Z2 Play. Prior to its expected launch today, the Moto Z2 Play was listed on a Brazilian retailer website. The Moto Z2 Play was listed with a price tag of BRL 2,699 which translates to Rs 54,000 approximately. The price is said to be inclusive of the InstaShare projector Moto Mod which is priced at Rs 19,999. Reliant leakster Roland Quandt posted this information on his official Twitter handle, but the website has been taken down right and is not accessible. However, GSMArena managed to track down the details listed in the Brazilian website. The listing reveals the official image of the Moto Z2 Play which is no different from its previous leaked renders. The Moto Z2 Play is clad in gold color with a white colored front panel housing the physical Home button, Moto logo above the display with the front-facing camera lens. On the right side the power button and the volume rocker are placed. The back panel sports the circular rear camera lens with the Moto logo placed below it. The back panel isn’t revealed completely but the metal pogo pins are believed to be placed down below for connecting the Moto Mods.
The specifications listed for the Moto Z2 Play also confirm the previously leaked information on the smartphone. According to the website, the Moto Z2 Play will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display. Under the hood of the smartphone, it runs a 2.2GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. Although the SoC isn t mentioned, it will most likely be Qualcomm s Snapdragon 626. The smartphone will come loaded with 64GB of onboard storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card. In the photography department, the Moto Z2 Play will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual pixel, laser autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording capability. Up front, the smartphone will house a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with dual-LED flash as well. The connectivity options available on the Moto Z2 Play include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and NFC. On the software front, the Moto Z2 Play will run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The battery on the Moto Z2 Play could range between 3,000mAh and 3,150mAh. With all the details already out in the open, what s left is the officially unveiling and seeing the Moto Z2 Play in flesh. Lenovo-owned Motorola should unveil the smartphone anytime soon, thereby putting a rest to the continuous string of leaks on the Moto Z2 Play.
