There are plenty of big smartphones set to launch this month.


The first half of 2017 brought us the latest flagship devices from Xiaomi, Sony, LG and Samsung. While the likes of Oppo R11 has launched, this month still has a lot in store for us when it comes to smartphone launches. From budget devices to flagship killers like the OnePlus 5, the month of June is shaping up to be quite exciting. Here’s a look at five smartphones that are set to launch this month. Moto Z2 Play

Launched recently in the US for $499 (Rs 32,000 approximately), the Moto Z2 Play is all set to make its India debut on June 8. The company has not only confirmed that it will be launching the smartphone in India, but has also open pre-orders for the same. The Moto Z2 Play is a thinner and lighter version of last year s Moto Z Play, with an upgraded processor, more RAM, and a new camera. The Moto Mods still remain the talking point of the phone. The smartphone is said to come with a metal unibody design, connecting pins for the Mods, round rear camera at the back, and a fingerprint scanner placed underneath the Home Button up front.


The smartphone feature a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. There is also an option to expand the storage further via a microSD card up to 64GB. The smartphone will come with a 12-megapixel dual-pixel auto-focus camera with f/1.7 aperture. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with dual LED flash. It comes with 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower support. Apart from that, the smartphone also comes dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and USB Type-C port and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Honor 9

Honor 9, the successor to last year’s Honor 8 is set to launch this month. Honor 9 was first rumored to be launched on June 20, but apparently, the official launch will happen on June 12 at a special event in Shanghai.The phone is expected to feature a dual-camera setup. From a design perspective, the smartphone will sport curved edges much like the Mi 6. The Honor 9 is said to come with a physical home button up front, which eliminates the fingerprint sensor on the back as seen in the Honor 8.

From what we have been hearing so far, the Honor 9 has been speculated to sport a 5.2-inch full-HD display just like its predecessor. The phone is tipped to be powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The Honor 9 is expected to feature a 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel sensor at the back of the smartphone, as per the report. The upcoming Honor phone might run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6

After launching the new Nokia 3310, HMD Global has sent out media invites for a June 13 event in India. While the launch plans are under wraps, reports state that we could see the launch of the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android smartphones. From what we have heard so far, the Nokia smartphones are expected to be priced in sub-Rs 20,000 segment. Nokia recently also confirmed that the smartphones, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, will get the Android O update.

The specifications of Nokia 6 include 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D Gorilla Glass display, Android 7.0 Nougat OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, 3,000mAh battery, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. It also comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and support for Dolby ATMOS audio.

The Nokia 5 offers a 5.2-inch HD display, Android Nougat OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage. Other features include 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. Lastly, the Nokia 3 comes with a 5-inch display, MediaTek processor, an 8-megapixel camera both in the front and back, and a 2,650mAh battery.

OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5 is among the most anticipated phones, and it has been a part of rumor mills almost every day now. The Chinese company has already revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will flaunt a 1080p display, and will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. Just like its predecessors, the OnePlus 5 is expected to have a simple design, and rumors hint at a unibody metal design. Other than that, the company had also announced that it has partnered with DxOMark to make the OnePlus 5 s camera better.

The smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display, and it might launch in two variants — 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage and 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage. Going by the rumors, the OnePlus 5 might come with dual-camera setup. The smartphone is expected to be fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery, with support for Dash Charge technology. On the software front, the OnePlus 5 is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017)

Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy J5 (2017) as a part of the Samsung s Galaxy J series. The smartphone is now rumored to be announced on June 22. Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) is likely to be priced around the Rs 20,000 mark. The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) is said to follow the same Samsung Galaxy J-series design and comes with the home button embedded with the fingerprint sensor and flanked by the capacitive buttons. On the rear is the camera module with the flash and the logo.

The smartphone is purported to be powered by Samsung Exynos 7870 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The new Galaxy J5 (2017) is said to be backed by 2,600mAh battery and leak suggests that the smartphone has already been listed on Amazon France at a price of 279 euro (Rs 20,200 approximately).
