Lenovo-owned Motorola has today launched its semi-modular smartphone in India, the Moto Z2 Play. Successor to last year s Moto Z Play, the new smartphone gets a bump in specifications, slightly thinner design, better cameras and more. As a part of launch offer, Motorola is also offering 50 percent off on select Moto Mods, financing options, 100GB additional 4G data on Reliance Jio and more. At its price point, the Moto Z2 Play will compete with the likes of OnePlus 3T, Oppo F3 Plus and Vivo V5 Plus. Price and Availability: The Moto Z2 Play will set you back Rs 27,999, and will be available to purchase online via Flipkart and offline via local and multi-brand retail stores. The Oppo F3 Plus is priced slightly higher at Rs 30,990 and can be purchased online as well as offline. While the Vivo V5 Plus is priced at Rs 27,980, and purchased online as well as offline stores, the OnePlus 3T is Amazon India exclusive. The 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 29,999 whereas the 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 34,999. Display: All four smartphones feature full HD (1080p) displays. Now, while the OnePlus 3T, Vivo V5 Plus and Moto Z2 Play feature 5.5-inch screens, the Oppo F3 Plus has a slightly larger 6-inch panel. ALSO READ: Vivo V5 Plus Review
Chipset, RAM and Storage: The Moto Z2 Play is powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 626 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, which is an incremental upgrade to the already powerful and efficient Snapdragon 625 SoC that is clocked at 2GHz. It is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on-board storage, and a microSD card slot for further expansion is also present.
The OnePlus 3T features the most powerful hardware among the smartphones. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB on-board storage. However, there is no option to expand the storage any further. The Vivo V5 Plus, on the other hand, is powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on-board storage, and there is no option to expand it further.

Cameras: The Moto Z2 Play features a 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). Up front, there is also a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual-tone LED flash. The OnePlus 3T features a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 4K video recording capabilities, and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Oppo F3 Plus and Vivo V5 Plus, both feature dual front-facing cameras. On the Oppo F3 Plus, you get a 16-megapixel sensor + 8-megapixel sensor both of aperture f/2.0. Using the dual cameras, you can capture standard selfies, or 120-degrees wide-angle selfies. The V5 Plus, on the other hand, features a 20-megapixel primary sensor to capture photos, supplemented with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor to capture depth information. Both smartphones also come with a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and full HD video recording capabilities.
Battery, OS and connectivity: The Moto Z2 Play features a 3,000mAh battery, the OnePlus 3T comes with a 3,400mAh battery, the V5 Plus is armed with a 3,160mAh battery, whereas the Oppo F3 Plus features a massive 4,000mAh battery. All smartphones come with fast charging capabilities.
In terms of operating system, the Moto Z2 Play and OnePlus 3T run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, whereas the F3 Plus and V5 Plus run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS wrapped under custom UI. In terms of connectivity, all smartphones feature dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
Overall, the Moto Z2 Plus brings good hardware for a mid-range smartphone. It comes with water repellent nano coating and Moto Mods connectivity allowing you to snap on an external battery, a mini projector, a speaker mod or a camera mod. The OnePlus 3T, on the other hand, features top-of-the-line hardware for those who want a spec heavy smartphone. And for those into selfies, the Vivo V5 Plus and Oppo F3 Plus could be the right options.
