Earlier today, Lenovo-owned Motorola launched its third-generation smartphone, called the Moto E3 Power for Rs 7,999. The smartphone comes with much needed upgrade to its predecessor the Moto E2. The Moto E3 Power, as always has been the case with Moto E series, is targeted at the budget segment. Priced at Re 7,999, the smartphone will face a strong competition from a number of Android smartphones in the same price band. The Moto E3 Power will be going head to to head with the popular smartphones like Lenovo’s Vibe K5 Plus and Xiaomi’s Redmi 3s Prime based on their price, specifications and features. Price: The Moto E3 Power is priced at Rs 7,999 and will go on sale exclusively via Amazon India starting today midnight. The Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime is about Ra 1,000 expensive and is priced at Rs 8,999. It is available via weekly sales on Mi.com/in and other leading e-commerce sites. Display: All three smartphones feature a 5-inch display. While the Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3s Prime feature an HD (720p) display, Lenovo’s Vibe K5 Plus is equipped with a full HD (1080p) display.
Processor and RAM: Motorola’s Moto E3 Power is powered by MT6735p quad-core processor clocked at 1GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. While the Redmi 3s Prime runs on Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor (eight Cortex A53 cores clocked up to 1.4GHz) paired with 3GB of RAM, the Vibe K5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor (eight Cortex A53 cores clocked up to 1.7GHz) paired with 3GB of RAM. The Moto E3 Power doesn’t look that powerful as the other two.
Internal storage: The Moto E3 Power and Vibe K5 Plus come with 16GB of onboard storage, whereas the Redmi 3s Prime has 32GB of onboard storage. All three smartphones also include a microSD card slot for further expansion.
Cameras: The Motorola Moto E3 Power sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. The Redmi 3s Prime and Vibe K5 Plus come with 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. All the three smartphones come with a 5-megapixel front facing for video calling and selfie.
Battery: On the battery front, the Moto E3 Power comes with 3,500mAh battery, while the Vibe K5 Plus comes and Redmi 3s Prime comes with 2,740mAh battery and 4,100mAh battery respectively. The Redmi 3s Prime edges out the competition with a bigger battery though Motorola has made some battery optimization on the Moto E3 Power. It comes with a 10W charger which the company claims helps deliver 5 hours of back up after 15 minutes of charging.
Connectivity: All smartphones feature dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options. The Lenovo K5 Plus takes a down track here as the smartphone doesn’t support VoLTE. The Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3s Prime support VoLTE for HD voice calling.
OS: The Moto E3 Power runs upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While the Redmi 3s Prime runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8, the Lenovo smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under company’s Vibe UI.
Others: The Redmi 3s Prime comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back which is a feature that is missing from both, the Vibe K5 Plus and Moto E3 Power. The Redmi 3s Prime also comes with a metallic body which gives the smartphone a premium look. One unique thing that the Moto E3 Power offers is a nano coating that saves the smartphone from water spills. Such feature is missing from the competitions.
