Motorola, once known for offering fast software updates to practically its entire line-up and ensuring that no phone is left behind, seems to have changed the way it does things. The smartphone maker recently launched its latest mid-range and affordable smartphones at an event in Brazil, which is one of its key global markets. The Motorola Moto G6 and Moto E5 line-ups were revealed at the event, and offer impressive specifications and features for their low prices. However, prospective buyers should keep in mind that the Motorola Moto E5 line-up is not in line to receive the Android P update at all. On the other hand, the Motorola Moto G6 line-up is slated to receive the update, but Motorola’s timeliness in delivering these updates could be worse than it’s usually been. The information, first published by Ars Technica, also states that both smartphone lines won’t receive monthly Android security patch updates, but will get security releases every 60-90 days. All of the smartphones launched this month come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Motorola Moto E5 Line-up Specifications
The Motorola Moto E line has traditionally been the company’s budget offering, priced at under Rs 10,000 in India, and sitting just above the Moto C line which is the company’s entry-level smartphone range. The Moto E5 line comprises of the Moto E5 Play, Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus. All three smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, with base variants starting at 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Moto E5 Play has the smallest screen, at 5.2 inches and a 16:9 HD resolution. The Moto E5 has a 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ screen, while the Moto E5 Plus has a 6-inch 18:9 HD+ screen.
