According to the presentation slides, the Moto X (2017) aka Moto X4 will come with a dual-rear camera setup along with a dual-LED flash and laser auto focus. Apart from this, the slides reveal that the smartphone will feature a 5.5 inch display, Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC built on 10nm process, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It is expected to house a 3,800mAh battery with support for fast charging. Additionally, a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance is also expected.
In the photography department, the Moto X4 could sport twin 13-megapixel snappers at the back. It is not clear if Motorola will go for an RGB + monochrome sensor combination, or go for a standard + telephoto lens combination. The resolution of the front-facing camera is not known at the moment. The phone is expected to run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Another thing worth noting is that the presentation doesn’t talk about Moto Mods accessories. But, if rumors from the past are to be believed, the smartphone will come with support for connecting pins at the rear side for Moto Mods accessories. Rumors also suggest that the Moto X lineup will no longer hold the flagship crown for Motorola and will place Moto X4 in mid-range segment. However, the presentation slide calls the Moto X4 as their “flagship” device with the Snapdragon 660 SoC. What can be concluded from the above mentioning is that the new Moto X might land somewhere between the Moto Z and Moto G in the company’s portfolio.
