Last year Motorola launched the Moto X with wood back finishes. This time Motorola could up its game by giving the phone proper leather finishes. Samsung started the trend of using faux leather or pleather finish with the Galaxy Note 3. Though it is made of plastic, users have appreciated the new soft-touch leather finish that lends a more premium feel to the phone despite being made of plastic. Samsung added that finish to its tablets and other smartphones as well.
However, it remains to be seen whether Motorola takes a leaf out of Samsung’s playbook or comes out with real leather finish for the Moto X+1. Little is known about the rumored smartphone at the moment. Apart from the Moto X successor, Motorola is also expected to launch cheaper Android smartphones, a phablet with a 6.3-inch display as well as the Moto 360 smartwatch running on Android Wear.
