This comes months after it was revealed that Motorola laid off half the workforce from its Chicago-based office. In addition to removing the employees, the company also canceled the Moto X5, and later announced the Moto Z3. The company seems to be working on a variant of its upcoming device with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Also Read - Motorola-branded Smart Refrigerators with Wi-Fi tipped to launch soon in India
However, it is likely that the company may add more RAM and internal storage to the upcoming flagship considering that the device is currently in the early stages of the development. According to a detailed report by XDA Developers, the device is currently running Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, and Motorola has added Moto Mods support in the device. It is unclear if the new device will support older Moto Mods because, during the launch of the modular system, the company had committed to three generations of support.

Considering that the device will come with Moto Mods support, it is possible that the company may name the device as Moto Z4. According to the report, the company is also working on adding support for the existing 5G Moto Mod in Odin . The information also indicated that the device is likely to be aimed at the United States market with a Verizon-locked model and an unlocked model.
The report also added that the company is working on the software to handle an in-display fingerprint scanner but it is unclear if it will add the scanner in Odin . But since there are no reports about the company working on any other device and the unlikelihood of the company launching a mid-range device with an in-display fingerprint scanner, it is possible that Odin may come with the in-display fingerprint scanner.
