Motorola launched the One Power as its first Android One device at IFA 2018 in late August. The smartphone came with Android Oreo and the Lenovo-owned smartphone maker confirmed that Android Pie update will be released by the end of this year. Two weeks ago, the One Power appeared on Geekbench with Android Pie and now, Motorola has confirmed when the update will officially arrive.
Motorola is sending out a notification to One Power users that the Pie update will arrive in the next few days. “You can count on us to bring the latest software to your phone,” the prompt notification reads. “We’re happy to let you know that you’ll be able to enjoy all the features of Android 9.0 Pie on your motorola one power in the next few days,” the notification expands on the message. Those interested can tap on the ‘learn more’ icon to read further.
The new prompt notification is a refreshing way to let users know that they will soon get the newest version of Android. To recall, Android 9 Pie was released in August and is currently available on only a handful of devices including Google’s own Pixel lineup, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, Nokia 7 plus to name a few.
However, Google has confirmed that the mobile operating system will soon be pushed out to other devices as well. However, Motorola was anticipated to release update sooner since the One Power is part of Android One program. By pushing out an update by the end of this month, Motorola will still be delivering on its promise of timely software update.
